Create and modify rate card and grid section

Overview

This documentation explains how business managers can view and manage grid sections, formats, and rate cards for a specific website.

Only users with the Business Manager role can create and modify grid sections and rate cards.

Access grid section

To access grid section, follow these steps:

  1. Log into the Kamino platform.
  2. In the left menu, select Administration.
  3. Click Inventory.

When you open the Inventory tab, a table displays the data for one of the websites in your account. The table uses a collapsible layout:

  • Primary row: displays the page type and the grid section. Page types are sorted alphabetically.
  • Expanded view: expand a primary row to view and select all formats associated with that specific grid section.
  • Visibility toggle: use the Active/Inactive buttons to filter the view and show or hide disabled grid sections.

Grid sections are sorted by rank. Each grid section provides the following details:

  • ID
  • Position
  • Max ads
  • CPX type and CPX price
  • Status (Active or Inactive)

Each format within a grid section provides the following details:

  • ID
  • Name
  • CPX type
  • CPX price
  • Forfait price

Create grid section and format

Create grid section

To create a grid section, follow these steps:

  1. Log into the Kamino platform.
  2. In the left menu, select Administration.
  3. Click Inventory.
  4. Click Add New in the top right corner.
  5. Select Grid Section.
  6. Complete the mandatory fields described below:
    • Website: select a website from the list.
    • Page type: select one of the following values: home, search, category, universe, confirmation, product, custom_list, or shop.
    • Position: select one of the following values: bottom, carousel-native, leftGutter, middle, middle-bottom, middle-bottom-native, middle-center, middle-native, middle-product, middle-right, middle-top, middleProduct, rightGutter, top, top-mobile-app-banner, top-native, or top-tablet-app-banner.
    • Rank: this value is auto-completed when you select a page type. The platform displays an error message if you enter a rank lower than the current maximum rank. For example, if rank 1 is already used for the category page type, available ranks start from 2.
    • Formats: associate one or multiple formats. Available values include: impulse, impulse-display, impulse-product, playbox, totem, totem-display, squad, squad-display, square, square-display, sword, sword-display, billboard, billboard-display, banner, masthead, or visimax.
    • Max ads: define a value for the maximum number of ads.
    • Status: select Active or Inactive. The default value is Active.
  7. Select Add.

Define rate card for each format

To define the rate card for each format associated with the grid section, follow these steps:

  1. Log into the Kamino platform.
  2. In the left menu, select Administration.
  3. Click Inventory.
  4. Click the pencil icon next to a given format.
  5. Select the CPX type: CPC, CPM, CPMV, or FIXED. You can select only one value.
  6. Enter a CPX price.
  7. Enter a Forfait price.
  8. Select I understand, confirm.

Add new format in grid section

To add a new format in the grid section, follow these steps:

  1. Log into the Kamino platform.
  2. In the left menu, select Administration.
  3. Click Inventory.
  4. Click the plus icon next to a grid name.
  5. Complete the mandatory fields:
    • Website: select a website.
    • Page type: select a page type.
    • Grid section: select a grid section. The options depend on the selected page type.
    • Format: select a format from the dropdown menu, which lists all available formats on the platform. You can select only one value.
  6. Configure the optional rate card fields:
    • CPX type: select CPC, CPM, CPMV, or Fixed. You can validate a new format without a CPX type and CPX price, but if you select a CPX type, you must define a CPX price.
    • CPX price: enter the price corresponding to the selected CPX type.
    • Forfait price: enter the forfait price.
  7. Select Add.

If you don't define a rate card, the platform doesn't automatically associate a default rate card with the new format. The platform also blocks ad delivery for any format that lacks an associated rate card.

Special case: dual pricing configuration

If a retailer wants to sell a format with two different pricing types (for example, both CPM and Fixed), you cannot set up this configuration directly on the platform interface. To configure dual pricing, contact support at rm-support@equativ.com with the following details:

  • CPX type = CPM
  • CPX price
  • Forfait price

Manage grid sections and formats

Modify grid section

Only administrators can perform the following actions:

  • Modify Max_ads
  • Modify Rank
  • Change a grid section status between Active and Inactive
  • Add a format

Modifying a placement affects ad delivery and rendering. If active campaigns currently use the placement, changes can cause delivery issues. Ensure commercial and technical stakeholders validate any changes before you apply them.

Impact of rate card modifications

Before modifying a rate card, review the rules below to assess how changes affect your campaigns:

  • The new creative rule: if an action creates a new creative in the system (such as adding a page type), the platform applies the new rate card.
  • The modification rule: updates to an existing line item that don't create a new creative (such as changing dates, budgets, targeting, or deleting items) allow you to keep the old rate card.
  • Free budget: setting or changing a free budget functions as a standard modification and doesn't change the rate card.

Refer to the following table for specific use cases:

Use case New rate card applied? Details
Adding a page type Yes This action creates a new creative, which triggers the new rate card.
Copying an existing line item Yes The new child line item uses the new rate card instead of inheriting from the parent.
Creating a new campaign Yes Applied by default to all new structures.
Creating a new line item on an existing campaign Yes Applied to the new line item.
Modifying guaranteed campaigns: name, opt-out targeting, dates, device, custom budget, budget type changes, pacing, capping, free budget, deleting a page type, categories, keywords, products No The rate card remains unchanged.
Modifying sponsored products: name, IO, Buyer/Brand DSA, budget, dates, pacing, opt-out targeting, free budget, deleting a page type, attribution settings, products, bids No The rate card remains unchanged.
Modifying sponsored product campaign: adding a product on an existing campaign No Inherits the rate card from products already in the campaign.
