Get started with the campaign structure
Overview
This article provides an overview of how campaigns are structured in the Kamino platform.
Understand campaign structure
A campaign can consist of one or multiple subsets called line items. You can create multiple line items to divide the campaign based on several distinct criteria.
The following list details some common campaign structures:
- Budget split: A campaign's budget can be split over several line items. A line item's budget doesn't necessarily have to equal the budgets of other line items within the same campaign. For example, if a campaign's budget is €10,000, you can assign €6,000 to line item A and €4,000 to line item B.
- Multi-format: A line item can only include one format. However, a campaign can have multiple line items that use different formats. For example, if a campaign's formats include Totem and Billboard, you can assign the Totem format to line item A and the Billboard format to line item B.
- Variety of products: A campaign can include various products that are naturally different. In this case, you should create a distinct line item for every type of product. For example, if a campaign features french fries and beer, you should configure line item A for the french fries and line item B for beer.
Manage campaign status
When you create a campaign, the platform automatically sets it to the Review status. The first line item you create within that campaign also receives the Review status. All subsequent line items are automatically created with the Programming status.
If you update the status of a campaign, the status change also applies to its line items.
If the campaign and its line items have different statuses, the line item status takes precedence, unless the campaign is in the Review status.
The following table defines each status and its effect on delivery:
| Status | Definition | Is the campaign or line item delivering? | Status type* |
|---|---|---|---|
| Archived | The campaign's end date passed and the attribution window is finished. Reports are no longer updated in the Kamino systems. | No | Automatic |
| Ended | The campaign's end date passed. | No | Automatic or manual |
| Programming | The campaign or line item is in progress and doesn't deliver. | No | Automatic or manual |
| Paused | The campaign or line item is paused and doesn't deliver. | No | Manual |
| Review | A campaign or line item only goes live on the retailer's website if a cookie was preloaded in the user's browser. This is only available for JavaScript integrations. | Yes (cookie only) | Automatic or manual |
| Running | The campaign or line item is live on the retailer's website. | Yes | Manual |
* Manual: Status can be edited by the user in the Kamino user interface.
Automatic: Status is automatically set by Kamino systems.
