Set creative targeting
Overview
This document describes how to set the targeting of individual creatives in a direct insertion.
Set creative targeting
Some creative templates are multi-creative templates. They require multiple creatives to be added in a specific, predetermined order, in the Creative section of the insertion. For example, the Expand (2 creatives) template uses the first creative in the insertion for the collapsed state and the second one for the expanded state of the ad.
The creative targeting feature is not compatible with these multi-creative templates!
To set the targeting of a creative, proceed as follows:
- Click on the creative in the creative list in your direct insertion.
- On the side panel, go to the Rotation & targeting tab.
- Expand the desired targeting type.
- Select the required targeting criteria.

The following table explains the available creative targeting types.
| Creative targeting type | Description |
|---|---|
| Geography |
Targets users at specific locations. Available criteria: Country, Region, State, City. DMA targeting and exclusion (negative targeting) are not supported. |
| Keyword targeting | Targets the presence or absence of one or multiple keywords or key-value pairs in the ad call. For more information, see section "Keyword targeting on creative level" here. |
| Platform targeting | Targets platforms, such as Desktop computers, Tablets, or Smartphones. |
| Time frame targeting |
Ensures that the creative is delivered only in the specified time frame. For example, you can specify that creative A is displayed during the first week and creative B during the second week. The creative time frame cannot be outside of the insertion's time frame. Time frames of multiple creatives can overlap. |
